This year's Jewish athlete of the year is Brendan Leipsic, an 18-year-old hockey player with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League,
This was was announced at the 40th Annual "Y" Sports Dinner, held Tuesday, June 19th, at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.
On Saturday June 24, it was reported that Portland Winterhawks players Brendan Leipsic and Taylor Leier were selected in the National Hockey League Entry Draft Saturday. The 5 foot 9, 175 pund Leipsic has been described as playing a "gritty high termpo" game and as a very competitive young man.
